Why I started Kitchen Table Notary
Some time ago, a family member of mine was in the ICU. He’s older and thought his will and power of attorney were all set. While we were at the hospital, we found out the paperwork wasn’t done yet. It still needed to be signed, witnessed, and notarized. That realization really weighed on him, and the stress wasn’t helping his recovery.

I decided to handle it myself. I worked with an attorney to prepare the documents, then started searching for a notary who could come to the hospital quickly. I searched online, but it was much harder than I thought. Few people answered the phone, and even fewer understood our situation.

When I finally got in touch with someone, he picked up right away and explained what the appointment would involve. There was more to organize than I expected. We had to choose a time when my family member was awake and able to talk with the notary. The hospital wouldn’t let its staff act as witnesses, and I couldn’t be one since I was named in the will. The notary brought one witness, and we found another at the hospital. The schedule changed a few times, but he was flexible and worked with us each time.

Having someone who could come on short notice, and who was patient and understanding with a hard situation, made everything so much easier. That's why I started Kitchen Table Notary, to help other families the same way.
Why "Kitchen Table"
Most signings happen at a kitchen table, after work or on a weekend, in the middle of real life. But sometimes the table is a hospital tray, a care facility dayroom, or the tailgate of a truck. Wherever the table is, I'll meet you there.
